Bird Hike - Roșia Nouă
This short and easy loop in Roșia Nouă offers an accessible forest walk to a viewpoint overlooking the Marcului Valley. Along the way, hikers can visit the local Wooden Church, admire a water lily pond, and stop by the "Oaza Tolfy" Local Gastronomic Point.
We propose a very accessible trail suitable for everyone.
Cars can be parked in a generous space located opposite the Wooden Church in the village of Roșia Nouă, which we recommend you visit!
We set off on DJ 707, and after about 200 m we turn right and begin ascending through the forest for roughly 1.05 km until we reach the viewpoint. Here, we invite you to look up through the branches for local birds.
At the viewpoint, we suggest taking a longer break. If you look northeast, you will see the village of Obârșia winding and disappearing into the hills, while looking southwest offers an overview of the Marcului Valley and a partial view of Roșia Nouă village.
We begin our descent, and after about 380 m we reach the Valea Marcului local road, where, on the right, we can admire a water lily pond.
After roughly 375 m, we arrive at the “Oaza Tolfy” Local Gastronomic Point, where you can stop to enjoy a cold or hot drink, depending on the season and preference. If you also wish to eat, it is advisable to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance.
We push forward another 390 m to the intersection with the DJ 707 county road, from where it is about 500 m back to where we parked the cars.
A short and easy trail, perfect for a nature walk, blending forest paths, viewpoints, and Marcului Valley scenery with some of the highlights worth discovering in Roșia Nouă.
