Upupa epops
The hoopoe (Upupa epops), popularly also called the Armenian cuckoo or dung bird, is an insectivorous, migratory bird from the family Upupidae, order Coraciiformes, about 28 cm in length, with variegated brownish plumage, blackish wings and tail with white transverse bands, a light brown, long bill that is sharp at the tip and curved downward, gray legs, rounded wings, and a crest of large, rust-red feathers arranged like a comb on top of its head, which it can fan out and fold at will. It breeds in Romania, but leaves during the cold season.
